Symptoms:

Grape black pox is also known as scab. In orchards that are low-lying with poor drainage, under extensive management, with dense branches and leaves, poor ventilation and light penetration, and excessive nitrogen fertilizer causing excessive vegetative growth and delayed ripening, the disease is likely to occur. It mainly damages fruit, fruit stalks, leaves, petioles, new shoots and tendrils. When leaves are affected, pinpoint-sized dark brown spots appear first, surrounded by yellow-brown halos. After expanding, the lesions become round or irregular, with purple-brown to dark brown edges and grayish-white centers, and when dry they crack and perforate. When mature clusters and berries are infected, only stiff spots appear on the fruit skin surface, affecting quality. When new shoots, canes, petioles or tendrils are affected, round or irregular brown small spots appear first, later turning grayish-black with dark brown or purple edges, and the center sinks and cracks, forming canker spots.

Control methods:

1. Combined with pruning, cut off diseased branches, remove stiff fruit, scrape off dead bark on the main canes, and bury them deeply or burn them in a centralized manner.

2. Before bud break, spray the whole orchard once with 3-5 degrees Baumé lime sulfur mixture.

3. In the early stage of disease onset, spray 50% carbendazim wettable powder at 600 times dilution, or 1:0.7:250 Bordeaux mixture, or 52.5% famoxadone-cymoxanil water-dispersible granules at 2000-3000 times dilution, or 50% benomyl wettable powder at 1500-1600 times dilution, or 10% difenoconazole water-dispersible granules at 2000-3000 times dilution.
