Pick-your-own farm trips gradually become a "new fashion" for public leisure

Recently, Ningxia Xiangfeng Modern Ecological Circular Agriculture Manor held a two-day leisure picking activity, with more than 500 participants. Fresh vegetables such as peppers and cherry tomatoes in the greenhouses have ripened, and there are also newly marketed early-maturing Favorita new variety potatoes, offering citizens a variety of choices for leisure picking.

"Cherry tomatoes attracted many citizens to come and pick them, and the newly marketed early-maturing potatoes let citizens get an early taste." Ma Renbiao, an agricultural technician responsible for greenhouse planting technology, has been busy these days, tirelessly introducing the characteristics of each variety to citizens. Bright red cherry tomatoes have become the main content of citizens' weekend consumption. Walking into vegetable greenhouses in peak production season, although the tomatoes are small, the picking scene is very lively, making them a quite attractive leisure picking project besides strawberries.

Four greenhouses of early-maturing Favorita new variety potatoes have already been marketed. Staff sorted the dug potatoes and sold them in three grades. Premium potatoes are 10 yuan per kg, ordinary potatoes are 5 yuan per kg. This differentiated classification satisfies different consumer groups. "In this season, although potatoes at 10 yuan per kg are a bit expensive, they are, after all, a high-end variety and are quite popular," Ma Renbiao said. At present, the 15 tons of potatoes that came out of the greenhouses have all sold out, generating an income of 100,000 yuan, averaging 10,000 yuan per mu. Since leisure agriculture was included in the modern agriculture development plan, traditional agricultural production has expanded toward tertiary industries such as agricultural product harvesting, farming life experiences, leisure sightseeing tourism, and self-service dining, effectively increasing the added value of agricultural products.
