Laundry detergent jugs are quite sturdy, which has pros and cons. They're a bit tiring to cut, so everyone should be careful and cut slowly, and use tougher scissors. But there are benefits too - they're sturdy, can be used for a long time, don't fade easily, and the colors look quite nice.
For the label on the laundry detergent jug, you can use a hair dryer on the hot setting to slowly heat it up, and the label will peel off quite cleanly.
After removing the label, you can first draw a draft to determine the general shape you want to cut. You can use a pencil to draw the shape first, so you know where to start cutting.
Use scissors and a craft knife together to cut out the shape
Here we're planning to cut out a peacock. For the head, you can cut 8 small vertical strips - 4 for ears, 1 for the beak, and the rest recessed inward.
Once done, you can start coloring. Laundry detergent jugs are quite smooth, making coloring a bit harder. You can use acrylic paint, which is commonly used for hand-painted flower pots. The adhesion might be a bit poor, so you can apply multiple coats.
For the wings, first apply a blue base coat, then brush on a bit of peacock green. Leave the feather tail area blank to keep the original red color, and use a large liner brush for the blue.

Isn't it much simpler than the plum blossom, orchid, bamboo and chrysanthemum designs? If you can't manage something that complex, a little peacock is beautiful too!

The leftover acrylic paint can also be used on plain pots for growing flowers and succulents. Similarly, first use a pencil to sketch the basic shape, then apply color. Don't waste a single bit.
