Pothos Too Ordinary? These Trailing Plants Are Easy to Grow and Refreshingly Different

It seems that whenever easy-to-grow foliage plants come up, everyone thinks of pothos - cheap, easy to grow, and not bad looking either. But if you find it too ordinary, why not switch to some trailing plants instead? They are not quite so common or mainstream, but they really are stunningly beautiful.
1. Rosary Vine
Rosary vine (Ceropegia woodii) is a perennial succulent plant, with heart-shaped leaves on trailing vines. The leaves are slightly thick, and when hung beside a door or in front of a window, it looks especially lovely.
Care Tips:
A temperature of 15-25°C is ideal, but it can also withstand summer highs of 35°C. Place it in a spot with bright indirect light at home, and do not expose it to harsh sun. It has low fertilizer needs and is very drought-tolerant.
2. Burro's Tail
Most flower lovers call it yu zhui (burro's tail, Sedum morganianum). It is a perennial herbaceous succulent plant that likes a warm, semi-shaded environment. Its strings of trailing stems hang down in a very unique way.
Care Tips:
It likes semi-shade and cannot be exposed to harsh sun. It prefers loose, sandy loam soil for planting.
3. Ivy
Compared with pothos, I personally prefer ivy (Hedera helix). It has strong environmental adaptability, and at least you do not have to worry about it freezing to death in winter. It is a perennial woody climbing plant.
Care Tips: Ivy fears heat, and it easily dies in hot, stuffy weather. Once the temperature reaches 30°C, ivy stops growing. It is recommended to keep it indoors in semi-shade or indirect light in summer; in other seasons, full sun is no problem.
4. Muehlenbeckia
A very beautiful indoor foliage plant, with heart-shaped or round leaves. It is very suitable for placing on a plant stand or on top of a cabinet, with stems and leaves naturally drooping down and covering the whole pot, just like a green ball. Very beautiful.
Care Tips:
It likes a warm, humid environment and is drought-tolerant. It can adapt to either semi-shade or a bright spot, and it can withstand winter lows of 0°C.
5. Inch Plant
A relatively common foliage plant, with unique and elegant colors. It is very shade-tolerant and can be placed in a bedroom or study indoors.
Care Tips:
Inch plant (Tradescantia zebrina) is suitable for indoor care and fears harsh sun. When the temperature is below 8°C, it is prone to cold injury. It is not cold-tolerant and somewhat fears heat. When the temperature is too high, mist the leaves often to prevent the tips from drying out.
6. String of Pearls
A succulent plant. Grown in a pot in strings, hanging down, its color is fresh green and very beautiful.
Care Tips:
String of pearls (Senecio rowleyanus) goes dormant in summer. When light is insufficient, it tends to become leggy, but in summer it is best kept in semi-shade, otherwise the pearls will darken in color. In other seasons, keep it in full sun. In winter, maintain a temperature above 0°C, otherwise it is prone to cold injury. During care, keep the potting soil slightly moist but not waterlogged.
The above 6 are all relatively unique foliage plants suitable for indoor care. Flower lovers, what other easy-to-grow plants have you kept? You are welcome to leave a comment and share your care experience.
