Large-scale farmer growers from Pucheng go to Baishui to "seek advice"

(Reporter Ren Jia) "With the continuous updating of apple production and cultivation techniques, we farmers still need to keep learning and improving," said Liu Xiaofeng from Liufu Village, Sunzhen Town, Pucheng County, after attending the first class taught by a professor from Northwest A&F University. From June 20 to June 22, 40 large-scale farmer growers from Liufu Village, a village supported by the Agriculture Bureau, went to the Baishui Apple Experiment Station of Northwest A&F University to "seek advice" and learn.

In order to cultivate professional farmers, promote industrial development, and support targeted poverty alleviation, the Municipal Agriculture Bureau invited 6 professors from Northwest A&F University to provide technical training on the apple industry to 40 large-scale farmer growers from Liufu Village through classroom study and field practice guidance. The training content included analysis of the current status and development prospects of the apple industry, renovation techniques for old standard apple orchards and quality and efficiency improvement techniques, soil, fertilizer and water management techniques for apple orchards, integrated pest and disease control techniques for modern orchards, and new apple varieties and new orchard establishment techniques. "Through this study, I hope they can learn new cultivation models on the basis of focusing on traditional industries, drive the economic development of the entire village, increase farmers' income, and assist targeted poverty alleviation," said the first secretary of Liufu Village.

Liufu Village is a poverty-stricken village, located 10 kilometers northeast of Sunzhen Town, Pucheng County. It governs 4 natural villages, 11 villager groups, and 750 households, with a cultivated land area of 9900 mu, of which apples occupy 4500 mu, and the varieties are mainly Fuji and Qinguan.
