What fertilizer is best for lucky bamboo grown in water

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
Lucky bamboo (Dracaena sanderiana) likes fertilizer and has a fairly high demand for it. First, after it has rooted, use some compound fertilizer, but not too much, about once a month. In addition, every two weeks when you change the water, add some monopotassium phosphate. Also, use a nutrient solution about once every three weeks. Whatever the fertilizer, the amount must not be large, and the concentration must not be too high.

1. High fertilizer demand

Lucky bamboo quite likes fertilizer. Whether grown in water or in soil, its demand for fertilizer is fairly high. Therefore, scientific and reasonable fertilizing has a big effect on the plant's growth. When the nutrient supply is sufficient, the plant grows vigorously and looks more attractive.

2. Choosing fertilizer

For plants grown in water, chemical fertilizer cannot be used; it is not good for the plant's growth and instead easily causes leggy growth. Generally, some liquid fertilizers are used, mainly the following:

(1) After the plant has rooted in water, promptly use some culture solution or compound fertilizer. All the elements must be sufficient, such as nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. Only then can the growth of the plant's stems be promoted. However, the frequency must not be too high, otherwise it easily causes excessive root growth. Generally, once a month or so is enough.

(2) In addition, this should be done along with changing the water. Generally, the water should be changed once every two weeks. After changing the water, add some monopotassium phosphate to it. This can promote normal nutrient absorption.

(3) Also, about once every three weeks, use a nutrient solution; any kind bought from the market is fine, there are no special requirements.

3. Points to note

No matter which method of fertilizing is used, or what fertilizer is used, remember that the concentration must not be too high. Nor should the amount be too much. Otherwise, it easily burns the roots, and the loss outweighs the gain.
