Hydroponic Hyacinth Growing Methods and Precautions

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
To grow hyacinth hydroponically, first wash its bulb clean, put water in a vase, and keep the bulb 2 to 5 mm away from the water surface; then control the temperature at 9 degrees and place it in a dark place; when the flower bud grows to 5 to 8 cm, adjust the temperature to between 15 and 21 degrees; then add nutrient solution as needed and change the water every 7 days.

1. Planting the Bulb

When you get the hyacinth, first wash its bulb clean, then add clean water to the vase, keeping the water surface 2 to 5 mm away from the bulb. Never put the entire bulb in the water, otherwise it will affect the roots' breathing. Then, as the roots keep growing, the water surface will begin to lower, and in the end the roots will be kept growing neatly.

2. Shading to Protect the Roots

During the time it is growing roots, place it in a completely dark environment and adjust the temperature to around 9 degrees. You can find darker-colored paper and wrap it around the vase to block the light, which allows its root system to grow better. At the same time, also place it in a cool, ventilated place.

3. Moving It for Care

When its flower bud has grown to 5 to 8 cm tall, you can move it to a warm environment for care. At this point, the temperature can be adjusted to between 15 and 21 degrees, which is good for its growth.

4. Adding Nutrient Solution

During care, it sometimes needs more nutrients. You can regularly add some nutrient solution to the water according to its needs to meet its growth requirements.

5. Changing the Water Regularly

During the care period, make sure the water quality stays clean. You can change the water about once every week. When changing the water, do not break its roots; you can just slowly pull part of the hyacinth out of the vase.
