Can Lotus Be Grown Indoors? Indoor Planting and Care Methods
I. Reasons
The lotus we usually see mostly grows in large ponds, but it can not only grow in such an environment, it can also be grown indoors as a potted plant. It has strong adaptability and can even grow in a very small pot. Growing lotus at home symbolizes family harmony.
II. Cultivation Methods
1. Planting: Choose a shallow jar with a mouth diameter of more than 60 cm, select humus-rich pond mud or paddy field mud and put it into the pot, with a thickness of 10-15 cm.
2. Water depth: In the early stage of cultivation, do not put too much water in the pot; keep the water depth at 3-5 cm. Shallow water can raise the temperature of the mud in the pot and promote a rise in the temperature inside the pot. Once the floating leaves emerge from the water, the water depth can be increased and kept at about 16 cm. Add water every early morning to prevent insufficient water.
3. Light: It likes strong light, so place it in a courtyard or on a balcony and other places with good light and good ventilation. Be careful not to let strong winds blow on it, and avoid exposure to strong midday sunlight.
3. Dormancy: After it enters the dormant period, there is no need to add water frequently; just keep shallow water. After the leaves turn yellow and withered in October, it must be moved indoors to overwinter.
