Focusing on the garlic issue, Zhuochuang Information analyst interviewed
China Securities Network interviewed a Zhuochuang Information analyst on the garlic issue; part of the interview is as follows:
"The increase in garlic supply this year is the 'chief culprit' behind the recent sharp drop in garlic prices." Zhuochuang Information analyst Cui Xiaona said that last year domestic garlic production fell severely, and farmers sold garlic at relatively high prices, so in last autumn's planting season farmers expanded planting substantially, and with favorable weather after planting, per-unit yields in most domestic production areas increased when this year's new crop came in. With both area and per-unit yield increasing, total garlic output rose 34.6% compared with last year, which led to a decline in garlic prices when it came to market this year.
Has "Suan Ni Hen" (the exorbitant garlic price) really gone for good?
"In the future, the factors dominating garlic price changes will mainly include supply and demand, capital and market sentiment, as well as weather factors and macroeconomic policy," Cui Xiaona said.
