Tianshui Daily Online reportAccording to news from the Wushan County government website, on June 20, Wushan County held a county-wide meeting on promoting the income-boosting industry (cowpea planting). Deputy County Governor Chai Zongwen presided over the meeting, Deputy County Governor Ling Junqiang attended and delivered a speech, and heads of relevant county-level departments, all townships and some key leading enterprises attended the meeting.
The meeting reported on the main-season cowpea planting situation in the previous stage, analyzed the difficulties and problems that exist, and made arrangements and deployments for cowpea replanting work.
The meeting pointed out that the cowpea industry is an income-boosting industry determined by the county Party committee and county government after many rounds of investigation, and is also an important industry for promoting the "Xiliang model." It has the characteristics of "small investment, quick results and high returns" and conforms to Wushan's actual development conditions. All townships and relevant departments must attach great importance to it, increase work efforts, strengthen work measures, actively mobilize people in suitable areas to plant pole beans, and strive to ensure that the decisions and deployments of the county Party committee and county government on developing income-boosting industries are implemented. Field management of main-season cowpeas must be done well, technical guidance must be strengthened, pest and disease control and other work must be done well, and efforts must be made to improve product quality. In light of the fact that the rapeseed planting area this year is relatively large, publicity and mobilization must be carried out in advance, people must be guided to plant cowpeas in rapeseed fields in suitable areas, the replanting area must be effectively increased, and it must be ensured that the annual planting area of 50,000 mu is fully completed on schedule. Cowpea marketing work must be planned in advance, the agricultural department and all townships must strengthen communication and contact with distributors, establish an information-sharing platform, keep information-sharing channels open, do a good job in market matching, and strive to increase the benefits to the people. Distribution enterprises must strengthen contact with the people, clarify product standards, guide the people to harvest at suitable times, effectively raise the commercialization rate of cowpeas, and ensure that the county's cowpeas can be sold and bring good returns.
