This year, greenhouse cultivation has lifted half the people out of poverty
In Wangwan Administrative Village, Danzhou Subdistrict Office, Yichuan County, a reporter from Huashang Daily found that the village has explored a new poverty alleviation path of "enterprise + farmer households."
Wangwan Village is located south of Yichuan County seat, right next to Provincial Highway 201, and governs three villager groups: Tielongwan, Wangwan and Baijiazhuang. The whole village has 110 households and 377 people, of whom 44 households and 125 people are poor households. Wangwan Village Party Secretary Zhang Qingming said the village's current per capita annual income is more than 3,000 yuan, and with many elderly, weak, sick and disabled people in the village, nearly one third of the poor households became poor because of illness, while the lack of cash crops is also a major cause of poverty.
Reporters talked with farmers at the greenhouse base many times, and several poor households said the greenhouse industry developed in the village has begun to take shape, but what they worry about is still the selling price of vegetables and melons and fruits this year. In addition, farmers growing in greenhouses also face a lack of management technology. In response, Zhang Qingming said that after this year's greenhouse cultivation shows results, he will lead the growers to replan and solve the problem of a single variety. Besides the greenhouse industry, he also led villagers to plant open-field crops such as oil peony and snow peach. Once all these industries are developed, the whole village will form a three-dimensional and diversified industrial structure to help poor households increase income. Mao Longfei, first secretary of Wangwan Village, said that this year Wangwan Village set the goal of lifting 22 households and 65 people out of poverty by the end of the year, and officials also learned about the overall low prices of vegetables and melons and fruits. However, because the villagers planted crops with relatively high yields, even if prices are low, it will not greatly affect the village's poverty alleviation progress.
As poverty alleviation policies continued to intensify, village officials and the village-stationed assistance team analyzed the current situation of Wangwan Village and proposed the idea of developing the greenhouse industry. In March this year, using support funds and enterprise donation funds, the village built a greenhouse industry base in Baijiazhuang Group, newly built 110 greenhouses, and allocated them to poor households.
