I. The unsalable mystery
Case one:Mr. Xu from Dadongzhang Village, Zhongxin, Zoucheng, Jining, Shandong, however, could not be happy at all, because the million jin of potatoes grown by his cooperative still could not be sold.
At the beginning of this year he set up a planting professional cooperative, contracted more than 300 mu of land to grow potatoes, and as the harvest season arrived, still no outside buyers came to purchase. Grower Mr. Xu: "In previous years at this time, before the wheat was cut, there were no potatoes left in the field, they had all been sold."
Mr. Xu said:"Last August, because the price of corn was relatively low, we organized members to set up a cooperative wanting to grow cash crops. Who knew that growing them in the field would turn out like this? The harvest was actually very good, but the price fell, and no outside buyers came to purchase."
Because the reason for the unsold potatoes was unknown, Mr. Xu now looked at the field of potatoes and worried deeply. The potatoes on more than 300 mu of land were the hard work of him and the farmers for more than half a year. Mr. Xu said, just this patch of my land is more than 70 mu, including pesticides, seeds, fertilizer and labor; by a preliminary calculation, the direct loss could reach 200,000 to 300,000.
Analysis: Low vegetable prices have become the "new normal"
How should we treat it
Since low vegetable prices have now become the "new normal", does that mean we will never have another opportunity in vegetable growing? That is not the case.If under this normal everyone actively makes adjustments, vegetable prices move out of the trough and remain at a reasonable level, everyone can make money, and it can last for a period of time, then another "normal" will arrive. It is just that when the next "normal" will come truly cannot be guessed.
So under the current situation where "low vegetable prices" have become the new normal, how should we friends who grow vegetables treat it? Today Nongcai Jun will briefly sort out the logic and thinking for everyone.
(1) Vegetable prices cannot stay low for the long term, nor can they stay high for the long term.Behind vegetable prices are the livelihoods of hundreds of millions of people. A long-term slump will cause many people to leave this industry and look for new opportunities. Through such gradual adjustment, a relative balance between supply and demand is eventually reached, and vegetable prices will naturally rebound. Of course, if vegetable prices remain high for a long time, quite a lot of people will also enter this industry, supply will slowly increase, and vegetable prices will naturally slide accordingly, just like today. So everyone can understand that no industry can enjoy forever huge profits, nor can it suffer forever losses; in the end it will definitely move toward a reasonable level.
(2) Persisting definitely gives you a chance, but not everyone can persist.Everyone must understand that the two words "persist" are sometimes very cruel. Behind them lies fierce competition and confrontation, a result of survival of the fittest, wounding the enemy by a thousand while losing eight hundred of your own. So whether to choose to "persist" is not as simple as shouting a slogan, but requires strength to support it. Just imagine, if everyone persists, then the slump will continue, losses will keep occurring, until someone can no longer persist. What a tragic process that is. Ask yourself, can you persist to the end?
(3) Continuous innovation is very important; falling behind and clinging to the old will be eliminated.Agriculture is a slow industry, and agriculture is also an industry that emphasizes the accumulation of experience. However, this may have been correct in the past, because at that time capital and talent had not yet taken agriculture seriously. But now it is different. Agriculture is at the forefront, and a large number of innovations and changes keep appearing, all aimed at improving quality and reducing costs. That is to say, if you do not innovate and do not adapt to new changes, your costs will become higher and higher while others' costs become lower and lower, and in the end you will definitely be eliminated.
(4) Keep a calm mind; letting nature take its course is most important.Since the industry has already developed to this stage, it is impossible for us to change the trend by our own strength alone. It is enough to keep a calm mind, not rush recklessly, not act blindly, and treat it rationally. For example, everyone now knows the importance of vegetable price information; failing to pay attention to vegetable price changes will lose many opportunities. No matter whether the price is high or low, treat it with a calm mind, work step by step, and in the end persist if you can, and retreat if you cannot persist; just let nature take its course.
Case two:In Waliwu Village, Lizhuang Town, Huimin County, Binzhou City, Shandong Province, villager Ma Herong was standing in her own onion field worrying. This year her family's onions had a bumper harvest, but no buyer came for a long time. Seeing that the more than 10,000 jin of fresh onions left in the field would soon rot in the ground, Ma Herong could do nothing but feel helpless.
Unsalable onions, this kind of situation, was not encountered only by Ma Herong's family. In Huangcheng Town, Linzi District, Zibo, Shandong, farmer Wu Mingshan also scratched his head every day pointing at the onions in the field. His family planted more than five mu of onions. Prices had always been stable in the past, but unexpectedly this year they hit a historic low.Old Wu told reporters that this year when buyers came to purchase, the price was only one mao five, and earlier it had reached one mao three. He calculated it himself: if one jin sold for less than five mao, there was no profit to speak of. Now the price was less than one third of the cost price, which made the growers want to cry but have no tears.
Analysis: It is also vegetable growing
Large bases and small farmers are different
In fact, large bases and small farmers should have an essential difference in their operating approach, because they have naturally different attributes. If a large base operates according to a small farmer's way of thinking, its development prospects will not be good, while if a small farmer wants to follow a large base's thinking to develop, it will probably also end miserably. So large bases need the thinking of large bases, and small farmers also need the ideas of small farmers. Only in this way can they complement each other and reach a harmonious win-win situation.
(1) In terms of business positioning:Large bases must do agriculture with thresholds, otherwise you cannot possibly outcompete small farmers.
