If you want a particular pot of Crassulaceae succulents to fill out its pot, just keep the potting soil from drying out completely as much as possible, and when you notice signs that the succulents are about to grow wildly, you can increase your watering volume. Be sure to choose the right succulents. Because not all succulents are suited to filling out their pot. If you are a beginner just starting out, it is recommended to choose simple, easy-to-care-for succulents. Ones like string of pearls, vine-type succulents and so on are easier to keep alive, cheap and easy to grow.

In summer, when the temperature at which we care for our succulents is around 25 degrees, many Crassulaceae succulents may still keep growing; they only choose to go dormant when the temperature is high, and as long as the temperature is not high they will keep growing. For those succulent varieties that like to sprout side shoots, you can choose to let them fill out the pot naturally; all we need to do is strengthen their fertilizer and water management at the appropriate time, and this way we will quickly achieve the effect we want. For those succulent varieties that do not particularly like to sprout side shoots, we can use the method of beheading to speed up how quickly the plant fills out its pot. After beheading, you can give the succulents a light application of thin fertilizer, which helps the plant grow more side shoots and ultimately achieve the effect of filling out the pot.

When a succulent suddenly shows slight leggy growth in an environment that is not lacking light, with the leaf spacing slightly widened, or suddenly sprouts side shoots, these are all signs of rapid growth. Especially when a rosette-type succulent suddenly sprouts a great many side shoots, or when a cluster of small shoots squeezes out from the stem of an old-stem succulent, at this point pay attention to moving the pot so that the succulent can receive light evenly; this way the leaves will become compact and attractive. Light is naturally also an important link that cannot go unmentioned, because succulents especially love warm sunlight. The more sufficient the light, the better they grow. Apart from the height of summer, when proper shading measures must be taken for the plants, the three seasons of spring, autumn and winter can all take full-day sunlight. Doing this can avoid the phenomenon of pale leaves and a loose overall shape of the plant, and of course it also helps the plant fill out its pot.

In order to make succulents fill out their pot faster, you can choose to repot them every one or two years, with the time preferably chosen in spring, and be careful to cut off the plant's diseased roots and aging roots. Each time you repot, it is best to also replace the potting soil. Choose soil with good breathability and drainage. As for fertilizing, to put it simply, it is just like the human body needing nutrients: consuming too much at once will not multiply the nutrients, but will make you gain weight and damage your health. The same goes for plants: fertilizing should be done with thin fertilizer applied frequently, and it is not advisable to apply a large amount of fertilizer at once; a small amount many times is best.

In everyday care, never throw away leaves that accidentally fall off or get knocked off; dry them slightly, clean the base of the leaf, since only when clean can they take root, and let the succulent leaves face upward toward the sky and back downward, arranged in order on the soil (dry soil), and they can sprout new plants. There is another method: removing the terminal bud of Crassulaceae succulents to prompt the plant to quickly fill out its pot; you can also first let it grow a little leggy and then pinch off the top, as this way the plant will also be especially fond of growing side shoots. Haworthia-type succulents grow side shoots in clusters after flowering, and when leaf-propagated like Crassulaceae they generally also produce multiple heads; Aizoaceae succulents can only grow side shoots on their own after flowering, and are not easy to disturb.

Succulents generally like regions with large temperature differences; in areas like Yunnan, succulents are especially beautiful, because the day-night temperature difference there is quite large, which is very beneficial for the growth of succulents. In cases like the south, where the natural temperature difference is not large, you can create a large temperature difference yourself; for example, put them in a lower-temperature indoor area in the early morning and evening, and put them outside in the sun during the day, which can also create a large temperature difference to make succulents fill out their pot.
