On weekday evenings and public holidays, the Xindian River Left Bank Riverside Bikeway in New Taipei City always draws a steady stream of people cycling for exercise and leisure. To improve the cycling experience, the New Taipei City Government carried out a series of improvement works along the riverside bikeway from Huajiang Bridge in Banqiao District to Xiulang Bridge in Zhonghe District. The works have now been completed, and the public is welcome to come and see the bikeway's brand-new look.
The improved section is the bikeway along the route from Huajiang Bridge to Yonghe Lateral Transfer Gate (total length 4.8km). In addition to removing the old metal railings to provide open views and space, turning bays and rest areas (5 locations) were added at important nodes or previously narrow sections; the bikeway around Yongfu Bridge section was widened to 4 m (total length 398M) and turning bays and rest areas (4 locations) were added; and drainage ditch cover plates (about 340M long) were added at the Xiulang Bridge section to facilitate surface runoff and reduce the probability of flooding during heavy rain, providing the public and cyclists with a safer and more comfortable environment.
After the improvement of the Xindian River Left Bank Riverside Bikeway, the path has become wider, the views more open, and there are more rest spaces where people can stop and linger. Cycling or strolling along the Xindian River riverside lifts your mood as well. You are welcome to come and experience it.
