How should the star prince succulent be grown?

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
Do not water the star prince too much; just keep the potting soil moist, and there must be no waterlogging. Give it enough light, and in winter it is best to keep the temperature above 10°C. Apply a dilute phosphorus-potassium fertilizer once every 15 days, and do not apply too much fertilizer. Propagation can be done by division, sowing, or cuttings.

1. Growing environment

Water: Do not water the star prince too much. Especially when sunlight is insufficient, reduce the amount of watering; just keep the potting soil moist, and there must be no waterlogging.

Light: The star prince is very drought-tolerant, and its growth requires enough light. If light is insufficient, the leaf color will fade and its ornamental value will be reduced.

Temperature: It can tolerate a low temperature of 5°C. In winter, it is best to keep the temperature above 10°C. At lower temperatures it will enter a dormant period and stop growing, and at this time the potting soil must be kept dry.

Fertilizing: Apply fertilizer once every 15 days. A dilute phosphorus-potassium fertilizer can be used, and do not apply too much fertilizer, so as to avoid excessively long internodes, which would seriously affect its ornamental value.

2. Propagation methods

1. Division propagation: You can divide the plant when repotting. Divide the plant into clusters of 3-4 stems, then plant them directly into suitable potting soil.

2. Seed propagation: Sowing is mostly done in April-May, and it is best to sow when the temperature is controlled at 20°C. It will probably germinate in half a night.

3. Cutting propagation: Cut off robust growing branches. The branches should have 4 pairs of leaves and be about 3-5 cm long. Insert them into suitable soil, give them growing conditions of 18-24°C, and keep the soil moist. They will probably take root in about 15-20 days.
