Golden dewdrop (Duranta erecta) growing methods and precautions
I. Soil
To grow golden dewdrop, use loose, well-draining sandy soil. In addition, the soil should have good aeration, which helps the plant's roots absorb nutrients.
II. Watering
It is not drought-tolerant and likes to grow in a moist environment. During growth, ensure there is sufficient water to guarantee normal plant growth. Usually, do not water too heavily, to avoid waterlogging. During the rainy season, take rain-shelter measures, and after the rain stops, promptly drain the accumulated water from the potting soil. In winter, when temperatures are lower, watering should generally be reduced.
III. Light
Golden dewdrop likes sunlight, and it can also tolerate slight shade. To let it grow more robustly, give it plenty of light. If light is insufficient for a long time, the leaf color will fade.
IV. Fertilizing
During the growth period, fertilize in time to supply sufficient nutrients. In spring, apply a nitrogen fertilizer once every 15 days; after flower buds form, apply a phosphorus-potassium fertilizer once every 15 days. Applying more phosphorus-potassium fertilizer during the growth period can make the leaf color more vivid.
