Reasons for White Spots on Lucky Bamboo Leaves and How to Fix Them
1. Pest Control
(1) Specific cause: The most likely cause is pest infestation, such as mites, red spider mites, and the like. Sometimes pests multiply very quickly, so once you spot them, you must take action right away.
(2) Solution: There are two approaches. Assess the number of pests; if there are not too many, you can wipe the infested areas with a damp cloth (including both the front and back of the leaves). Then rinse the wiped areas with plenty of water to wash away as many pests as possible. This method is fairly simple and causes no harm. However, if there are really too many, you will have to rely on insecticides to eliminate them, such as Baichongling, abamectin, and so on. These chemicals are effective and act quickly, but they may cause some harm and may also pollute the surrounding environment.
2. Fertilize Moderately
(1) Specific cause: If nutrients are insufficient, white spots may also appear on the leaves. This problem can occur in both soil-grown and water-grown plants.
(2) Solution: Fertilize moderately. For water-grown plants, you can use some nutrient solution; for soil-grown plants, you can apply a moderate amount of organic fertilizer, etc.
3. Change the Water Regularly
(1) Specific cause: This applies to water-grown plants. If the water has not been changed for a long time, the leaves will also develop white spots.
(2) Solution: Change the water regularly, and let the water sit for a few days before adding it. Also, do not change all the water; leave part of it behind.
