What to Do If Winter Jasmine Has Root Rot? Detailed Guide to the Correct Treatment
1. Watering Scientifically
Cause: If winter jasmine is usually watered excessively, any water it cannot fully absorb will accumulate, and waterlogged soil is a major cause of root rot; it also affects its normal growth and development.
Solution: After discovering overwatering, first place it in a well-ventilated spot and do not water it for a short period; you may mist it lightly, just enough to moisten the soil. Water moderately in normal times, and do not water too much or too often, especially in winter when temperatures are low, when the amount of water must be kept even more strictly under control. During its peak growing season you can water a little more, but waterlogging must not occur.
2. Replacing the Soil
Cause: Many growers never change the soil; if the soil is not changed for a long time it turns black, and together with waterlogged conditions it breeds a lot of bacteria, making the roots prone to rotting.
Solution: Replace the soil with clean soil promptly, and cut off all the diseased branches and dead branches so it can grow better; after replacing the soil, sprinkle some water appropriately to keep it slightly moist.
3. Preventing and Treating Disease
Cause: If the growing environment is not well ventilated, disease can appear; the most common is root rot, which causes the roots of winter jasmine to rot away.
Solution: Spray a dedicated fungicide for prevention and control, keep the mixing ratio correct, and also ensure proper ventilation and moderate fertilisation in normal times to improve the disease resistance of winter jasmine.
