How to save a yellowing asparagus fern? A few tricks to restore its green
1. Water scientifically
Cause: Overwatering prevents the roots from breathing properly and causes rot, which turns the leaves yellow; of course, insufficient watering also leaves the asparagus fern short of water and turns the leaves yellow.
Method: Water only when the soil is dry, soak it thoroughly each time, but do not let water accumulate.
2. Diffused light
Cause: It prefers a semi-shaded environment; direct sunlight irritates it, damaging the chloroplasts and turning it yellow.
Method: Take care to increase humidity appropriately, and place the plant in a spot with diffused light.
3. Adjust the temperature
Cause: Cold damage to the asparagus fern slows its metabolism and turns the leaves yellow.
Method: Keep the room temperature at 15-25°C as much as possible, and the plant will gradually come back to life.
4. Fertilize appropriately
Cause: Too much fertilizer makes the soil strongly acidic and damages the plant's roots; too little fertilizer means the nutrients in the soil are not absorbed, causing poor nutrition in the plant.
Method: Choose a fertilizer specially made for asparagus fern and control the amount; you can apply more nitrogen and potassium fertilizer to promote the growth of branches and leaves.
5. Remove the source of harm
Cause: Poisoning, pests and diseases, fire, TV radiation and so on can also turn it yellow.
Method: You can move the source of harm away, carry out disinfection and sterilization and other treatments, cut off the yellow leaves, and if necessary cut off all the branches, leaving only the base.
