Xihe County Public Security Bureau Solves 2 Cases of Illegal Cultivation of Drug Source Plants

In order to further advance the work of banning planting and eradicating drugs, and to severely crack down on the illegal cultivation of opium poppies, the Xihe County Public Security Bureau has attached great importance to the matter and refined its working measures. While conducting inspections of barren hills and slopes and farmland, it has continuously intensified inspections of remote and idle houses and courtyards, striving to truly achieve thorough inspection, timely discovery, effective control, and complete eradication of drugs. Recently, the Shili and Luoyu police stations uncovered 2 cases of illegal cultivation of drug source plants (opium poppies) during their inspections to ban planting and eradicate drugs.

On June 20, the Shili Police Station learned from a tip that someone in Liuji Village, Shili Town, was cultivating drug source plants. Upon receiving the tip, the Shili Police Station immediately organized police forces to investigate. After arriving at the scene, the investigating officers found 30 plants of drug source plants (opium poppies) cultivated in the vegetable garden of the courtyard of Wang Moumou, a villager of Liuji Village, Shili Town. The investigating officers immediately eradicated the drug source plants and then, in accordance with the law, summoned Wang Moumou to the Shili Police Station for questioning. During questioning, Wang Moumou confessed to the fact of illegally cultivating drug source plants (opium poppies). In accordance with Article 71 of the Law of the People's Republic of China on Public Security Administration Punishments, the Xihe County Public Security Bureau imposed an administrative detention penalty of 4 days on Wang Moumou in accordance with the law.

On June 21, police officers of the Luoyu Police Station discovered during patrol that Gao Moumou, a villager of Tianyao Village, Luoyu Town, was cultivating 6 plants of drug source plants (opium poppies) in flower pots. The investigating officers eradicated the drug source plants on the spot and then, in accordance with the law, summoned Gao Moumou to the Luoyu Police Station for questioning. During questioning, Gao Moumou confessed to the illegal fact of cultivating drug source plants. Because Gao Moumou suffers from an illness, the Luoyu Police Station imposed a public security penalty of a 500 yuan fine on the offender Gao Moumou in accordance with the law.
