Heard that your balcony is only used for drying clothes? Interesting people have already turned their balconies into something extraordinary, balancing practicality and beauty.Every corner of the home is worth tending to with care.

The balcony is a natural flower-growing spot, with good ventilation and access to light - it would be a waste not to use it for growing flowers.

Even a space of just two or three sq m can be turned into your own little world - for enjoying the view, chatting, reading, and even taking an afternoon nap. On weekends, enjoy a cup of afternoon tea and savour the pleasant moments. At night, you can meditate, or lie down to feel the cool breeze and watch the twinkling stars.

1. Choosing a Balcony

The three key elements of growing flowers on a balcony are light, temperature and ventilation. If there is only one balcony at home, then there is nothing to discuss.

If there are multiple balconies at home, a south-facing balcony is the best choice, with good light and decent ventilation.

A north-facing balcony gets relatively less sunlight in summer, so when choosing plants you can opt for some that are more shade-tolerant.

A west-facing balcony gets afternoon sun, and in summer the direct sunlight usually lasts quite a long time, so you can grow some sun-loving plants there.

2. Flower Selection: Petunia, Geranium, Bougainvillea, Snake Plant, Cactus, Succulents, Pothos, and Hydrangea are all good choices. Add some highly ornamental plants, such as trendy plants: Fiddle-Leaf Fig, Monstera, Bird of Paradise, Rubber Plant, Fig, etc., and air plants like Air Plant and Air Grass, etc. With such fresh and artistic plants, the balcony instantly takes on an artistic quality.

If you are worried about mosquitoes when growing flowers on the balcony, you can grow some mosquito-repellent plants there.

Let's take a look at other people's balconies!
