Premier Lai Ching-te Honors the Top Ten Outstanding Agricultural Production and Marketing Groups

Premier Lai Ching-te, attending the "2017 National Top Ten Outstanding Agricultural Production and Marketing Groups Award Ceremony" on the 21st, said that Taiwan's agriculture has achieved considerable results through the efforts and cooperation of the Council of Agriculture team and all farmers, and he hopes that in the future they will continue to work hard on the existing foundation to jointly develop Taiwan's agriculture, and he believes that Taiwan's future will not be a dream.

Premier Lai Ching-te pointed out that the winning teams stood out from more than 6,300 production and marketing groups, which was extremely difficult and a great honor, and also demonstrated the progress of Taiwan's agriculture. He hopes that in the future Taiwan's agriculture will develop even better, crops will be more bountiful, and farmers will all live better lives.

Premier Lai Ching-te said that the teams participating this time were quite distinctive. First, their areas of expertise were diverse, including flowers and trees, vegetables and fruits, livestock, and miscellaneous grains; second, each group included three generations - elderly, middle-aged, and young - so they not only had rich experience but also new ideas; third, they adopted new technology and smart management. He hopes that each selected team will become a model for agricultural production and marketing nationwide, and will spread its experience across Taiwan to become an example for other production and marketing groups, helping Taiwan's agriculture make further progress.

Premier Lai Ching-te said that the Council of Agriculture team is very dedicated and has proposed three directions for new agriculture, including protecting farmers, prospering agriculture, and caring about rural ecological development. Among these, arranging insurance for farmers is caring about farmers' rights and interests; in addition, the goal of helping farmers reach an income of one million is to protect farmers. Also, using professional technology to produce and promote various agricultural products across Taiwan according to local conditions is meant to let agriculture flourish, and it is hoped that this will gradually lead our country's agriculture to develop into a professional, highly competitive industry with stable income.
