Can corn varieties from the Huang-Huai-Hai region be grown in Jiangsu?

An old farmer asked whether corn varieties from the Huang-Huai-Hai region are suitable for planting in Jiangsu. Corn varieties promoted and grown in the Huang-Huai-Hai region need to be treated with caution when planted elsewhere! The Huang-Huai-Hai region is actually geographically similar to central Jiangsu, but you should not conclude from this that corn varieties from the Huang-Huai-Hai region can simply be taken to central Jiangsu for planting, because many issues are involved. First, they may not necessarily produce a high yield; second, you may not necessarily be able to buy the seeds, and even if you can buy the seeds, the variety may not necessarily be suitable.
First, let me introduce China's corn planting regionalization. From the figure above, it can be clearly seen that there are basically six major regions, among which the northern spring corn region and the Huang-Huai-Hai corn region have the most outstanding yields, and can also be called China's granary! The Huang-Huai-Hai Plain roughly refers to parts of the areas through which the Yellow River, Huai River and Hai River flow, mainly Henan and Shandong, as well as parts of Hebei, Jiangsu, Anhui, Shanxi, Shaanxi and other areas. From the map, we can also see that the Huang-Huai-Hai region includes the northern part of Jiangsu, while central Jiangsu is not within this region. That is to say, corn varieties suitable for the Huang-Huai-Hai region are not necessarily suitable for central Jiangsu.
However, we also need to have a general understanding of China's seed approval system, which is divided into nationally approved varieties and provincially approved varieties. For nationally approved varieties, the promotion area is naturally much larger. When we buy corn seeds and carefully observe the packaging bag, we will find that, for example, it may indicate that they are suitable for planting in Henan, Shandong and northern Jiangsu.
However, some seeds are provincially approved, and the labeling on the seed bag will then become "planting in the Henan region," and such varieties cannot be planted in other regions.
The reason for these regulations is also to avoid unnecessary losses in agricultural production. Different regions have different prevalent diseases and different geographical climates. After planting in different regions, they may not necessarily be suitable, and they may not necessarily produce a higher yield than the locally main promoted varieties.
Therefore, when planting, everyone should still clearly check the areas suitable for promotion and planting indicated on the seed packaging bag. If central Jiangsu is not within the range, then try not to plant corn varieties from the Huang-Huai-Hai region. For example, Xundan 20 is not only suitable for planting in the Huang-Huai-Hai region, but can also be planted throughout Jiangsu, while Liyu 16 is not recommended for planting in Jiangsu, because its disease resistance to some southern diseases is relatively weak.
