Yunlin County is an important county and city for livestock and poultry production, with 2.23 million ducks raised, accounting for about 35% of the nation, especially with the red-faced Muscovy duck being the most raised, accounting for nearly 50% of the nation. As the winter tonic season arrives, the Yunlin County Government, in order to promote the county's high-quality duck meat, together with the Republic of China Duck Raising Association, held the 2017 National Ginger Duck Chef Championship on the morning of the 7th at the county government's Civil Friendly Square, where the aroma filled the air.
County Magistrate Li Jinyong said that the first Ginger Duck Chef Championship in 2016 received widespread response from the industry, and this year's second National Ginger Duck Chef Championship was expanded. In addition to the physical store group, this year's competition also included a ginger duck meal kit group, allowing processing operators to participate in the event as well. He thanked the Republic of China Duck Raising Association, Yuanchang Poultry Production Cooperative, Taiye Livestock Production Company and Furong Slaughterhouse for their full assistance in jointly marketing Yunlin's high-quality duck meat.
County Magistrate Li Jinyong said that 16 physical stores participated in this competition. In addition to local ginger duck operators in Douliu, Huwei and other places in Yunlin, operators from New Taipei, Taoyuan, Miaoli, Changhua, Chiayi, Nantou and other places also participated in the competition; the meal kit group also had 5 poultry meat processing plants from Taichung, Yunlin, Nantou and other places participating, totaling 21 participants in the competition. All participating operators have their own distinctive features in terms of flavor and texture in ginger duck cuisine, and all are excellent choices.
Lin Jinfa, Vice Chairman of the Republic of China Duck Raising Association, said he thanked the Yunlin County Government for its vigorous promotion and assistance in restoring duck farming, which has allowed Yunlin's duck farming industry to fully recover after the avian influenza epidemics in recent years. He was also very happy to once again co-organize the Ginger Duck Chef Championship with the county government, which is of great help to ginger duck operators and the duck farming industry.
