"Romantic Windy City, Camellia Destiny" Camellia Season opens in Hsinchu City on the 16th

The 2017 "Romantic Windy City, Camellia Destiny" Camellia Season will kick off in Hsinchu City on December 16. An opening press conference was held yesterday (the 13th), where Mayor Lin Chih-chien personally trimmed leaves and completed camellia cuttings. The Hsinchu City Camellia Production and Marketing Group has achieved success in developing innovative cultivation techniques and has so far developed more than 1,500 varieties, making it a new highlight of Xiangshan District. Mayor Lin Chih-chien pointed out that "the world's most beautiful camellias are in Taiwan; Taiwan's most beautiful camellias are in Hsinchu City," and that the city will continue to integrate local industries to promote smokestack-free tourism in Xiangshan District.

Mayor Lin Chih-chien said that camellias symbolize "nobility" and "elegance," and that the internationally renowned Chanel also uses the camellia as its brand logo. The Hsinchu City Camellia Production and Marketing Group holds the Camellia Season series every year to promote the beauty of flowers, and the Camellia Season will run from December 16 to February 28 of next year, inviting everyone to come and experience the beauty of camellias. Mayor Lin Chih-chien mentioned that since taking office, he has promoted various construction projects in Qingqing Grassland. In addition to the "children's favorite" extra-long stone slide and ecological pond, the third phase is constructing a second ecological pond, where bald cypresses will be planted to create a grassland secret realm. "Xiangshan District is Hsinchu City's supporting mountain," he said. He is committed to integrating local industries, promoting smokestack-free tourism in Xiangshan District, driving local development, and creating new highlights for the city.

On the opening day of the Camellia Season, there will be a release of new camellia varieties and displays of camellia breeding achievements over the years. There will also be an agricultural gifts and specialty products exhibition, a Hsinchu bee and moo cow ecological zone, a rural women's craft special sale and DIY activities, a camellia specialty product achievement exhibition, youth agricultural education, and handmade wood creativity experiences. On site, 800 limited rural country snacks will be available for the public to enjoy free of charge, along with 500 camellia saplings as gifts.
