Marketing Taichung City's premium snow pears; heading north to hold an agricultural product exhibition and sale

To promote Taichung City's premium snow pears, the Taichung City Agriculture Bureau guided the Heping Farmers' Association to visit the Banqiao District Farmers' Association in New Taipei City on the 14th and 15th to hold the "Taichung City Snow Pear and Agricultural Specialty Products Exhibition and Sale Event," marketing Taichung's premium snow pears and also displaying and selling sweet persimmons, honey apples, honey taro, shiitake mushrooms, ponkan mandarins, red dragon fruit and other agricultural products, so that people in the north can also taste Taichung's high-quality agricultural specialty products.

The Taichung City Agriculture Bureau said that the snow pear is a temperate pear variety unique to the Lishan area of Taichung City, with a cultivation area of about 855 hectares and an annual output of about 19,000 metric tons. An ordinary water pear weighs an average of 200 to 300 grams per fruit, while a snow pear can weigh an average of up to 1,000 grams.

The Taichung City Agriculture Bureau pointed out that the snow pear originated in the cold high-mountain areas of Japan and was introduced to Taiwan in the 85th year of the Republic of China era, and was grafted onto pear trees in Lishan such as Shinseiki pears, Nijisseiki pears and Shinseiki pears. Snow pears have an almost melt-in-the-mouth texture, leaving a faint fruity fragrance in the mouth after eating. Because the Lishan area of Taichung has a special climate, the snow pears produced there are of quite excellent quality, even better than those from the place of origin.
