Penghu County Magistrate Chen Kuang-fu Announces 2018 as "International Bay" Year

On the morning of the 19th, the Penghu County Government held a "Press Conference on the Third Anniversary of the Magistrate's Inauguration" in Conference Room 1 of the County Government. Magistrate Chen Kuang-fu led the county government team in reporting to residents on the administrative achievements and future vision of the past 3 years, and announced that following 2017, the Year of Landscape Re-creation, 2018 would be named "International Bay Year."

Magistrate Chen Kuang-fu stated that the county government team has remained true to its original aspiration, always striving for the land of Penghu with a mindset of racing against time. Starting from the first year, the "Year of Efficiency Reform," they successively launched the 1999 county resident service hotline, began construction on sewage sewer projects, created autumn and winter flower seas, and reviewed major construction projects. In the second year, the "Year of Urban Purification," they held environmental cleanliness competitions across townships and cities, compiled the nation's first marine conservation textbook, set up daytime care centers in each township and city, and established the Penghu Good Farmer certification brand, and for the first time pushed Penghu's tourist arrivals past one million and increased the number of people returning to register their household registration by more than 2,000.

Magistrate Chen Kuang-fu pointed out that this year, with landscape re-creation as the goal, they successfully secured a permanently stationed medical evacuation and rescue helicopter in Penghu, and continued roadside ditch capping projects. These continued efforts and achievements not only earned Penghu County second place nationwide in the "2017 County and City Happiness Survey," but the most recent administrative satisfaction survey also showed more than 60 percent satisfaction.

At the meeting, Magistrate Chen Kuang-fu also announced that 2018 would be named "International Bay Year." In addition to continuing to develop existing achievements, they will actively combine a series of activities such as the Global Harbor Cities Forum, the Global Marine Resources Conference, the World Yacht Show, the International Food Exhibition, the International Tourism Beauty Pageant, the International Triathlon, the Marathon, and international academic seminars, hoping that through a 40-day bay carnival event, more international tourists will be attracted to Penghu.
