Daxi Camellia Festival Press Conference; Taoyuan Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan: Developing the Daxi Brand

Taoyuan Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan, at the city government office on the morning of the 28th, attended the "2017 Daxi Camellia Festival Press Conference," where he stated that Daxi horticulture has a traditional history, including varieties such as orchids and camellias, and that camellias are obtained by grafting onto bitter tea, with their varieties being ever-changing and their resistance strong, able to adapt to various environments, suitable for viewing and decoration. Daxi camellias are also sold at the Bade Holiday Agricultural Creative Market, and sales have been enthusiastic. Through the "Come to Daxi to Find Tea - Find Camellia Road" event, the Daxi camellia brand is being developed, and he believes the Daxi Camellia Festival can become a features of Daxi.

Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan said that last year (2016) the city government began planning leisure agriculture areas, and this year (2017) the Daxi Yuemei Leisure Agriculture Area has been approved by the Council of Agriculture, and can be jointly developed with the Yuemei parking lot, connecting roads, and the Shanzhuhu Natural Ecology Park. Next year (2018) a "Kangzhuang Leisure Agriculture Area" will also be planned, combining with the Xizhou Transfer Station to develop camellia culture, and he asked the Agriculture Bureau and Daxi District Office to strengthen marketing. Daxi is developing various event brands, and he believes that including the Daxi Dried Tofu Festival, Daxi Arts and Culture Season, Taoyuan Hot Air Balloon Carnival, Daxi Camellia Festival, and Daxi Kite Festival, all can make their names known.

Daxi District Chief Huang Jui-sung stated that most of Daxi's camellias are obtained by grafting onto bitter tea, and can adapt to various adverse environments in Taiwan.
