Taichung International Flower Carpet Festival Leads Visitors in Dancing the Flower Dance

Since its opening on December 23 last year, the Taichung International Flower Carpet Festival has accumulated more than one million visits, receiving an enthusiastic response. Yesterday (the 1st), the first day of 2018, the Taichung City Government specially invited a dance teacher to lead visitors in dancing the "You Are My Flower" flower dance, welcoming the arrival of the Flora Expo year with an energetic morning exercise activity. It attracted many visitors to participate enthusiastically, and the atmosphere on site was lively, showing a fresh start for the new year.

Chen Yu-cheng, deputy director-general of the Tourism and Travel Bureau, said that this year is Taichung's Flora Expo year. On the first day of the new year at the Flower Carpet Festival, everyone danced the "You Are My Flower" together, symbolizing a welcome toward the Flora Expo. Adults and children at the scene did morning exercises together to warm up for the Flora Expo, and participants also received a special set of Flower Carpet Festival commemorative colored pencils, symbolizing drawing a wonderful and beautiful year, which is uniquely meaningful.

The Tourism and Travel Bureau pointed out that this year's Flower Carpet Festival warms up for the 2018 Taichung World Flora Exposition. The design of the main flower carpet is closely tied to the GNP values of the Flora Expo, and the overall installation was created using more than 100,000 locally produced flowers. Its multiple petal lines outline the vitality of "green, ecology, and symbiosis." Visitors are welcome to watch the main flower carpet show every hour and half hour each day and take photos at check-in spots. The public is also invited to feel the slow-living spirit of nature, production, and sharing layered together by the flower carpet, thereby conveying the core value of humanistic common good of the 2018 Flora Expo.

The Flower Carpet Festival runs until January 7. During the event, traffic controls in the surrounding area will continue, and the public can still make greater use of the free shuttle buses. The shuttle buses to the exhibition area run from 8:20 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the return shuttle buses run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; in addition, the city government has also arranged rehabilitation buses to provide considerate accessible services, which the public can make greater use of.
