The opening ceremony of the "Nantou International Sand Sculpture Art and Culture Park" will be held at 10:30 a.m. on January 28 (Sunday) at the park, the only sand sculpture feat in the country not located by the sea.

In 2018, with good fortune rising, let us once again use Taiwan's rare salt-free, earthy-scented "Nantou golden river sand" to create the world's only sand sculpture art village that requires no sun exposure, telling Nantou's story through the most eco-friendly, nature-returning sand sculpture art in a joyful way rich in history, culture and art. Magistrate Lin Ming-chen, who values tourism, said that 2018 is a prosperous year and also the tenth year since sand sculpture art began in Nantou in 2009. To actively develop the cultural characteristics within Nantou County and create an international-level sand sculpture art recreation and tourism space, this year's sand sculptures will combine lighting to give the displayed works different features and make visitors' eyes light up.

The 2018 sand sculpture park curation content consists of nine major zones, including the entrance image, Pride of Nantou, Seeing Nantou, Art Passed Down Forever, Leaping Across the World, Environmental Protection Saves the Catastrophe, Re-evolution, Hopes and Dreams, Sand Sculpture Competition, and Creative DIY Zone. All works this time are presented to international standards, and more than twenty master sand sculptors from Japan, South Korea, Canada, China and Taiwan have been invited to create works, including the Statue of Liberty, the Roman Colosseum, the Sphinx, Nantou's tea garden scenery... Each work is highly detailed, and a parent-child DIY zone is also arranged so that visitors can not only look at the sand but also let children get close to nature. It is believed that this time's sand sculpture works will make people exclaim again and again.

On the opening day, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., admission is free. We sincerely invite everyone to enter the sand sculpture world together for a fantastical journey.
