Keelung Port Branch Uses Cruise Ships to Attract Tourism Operators to Invest in Local Tourism
Keelung Port Branch: Keelung Cruise Ships Attract Tourism Operators to Invest in Local Tourism
(Taiwan TB News Network / Reporter Chen Nianzu) The Keelung Port Branch stated on the 24th that the tourism boom from cruise passengers entering through Keelung Port has attracted tourism operators to promote in-depth local tourism in Keelung, including Keelung's hidden gems, the most authentic cultural charm, alleyway culture and cuisine itinerary planning and sightseeing guides, all of which are gradually being established and taking root, so that cruise passengers no longer easily miss the beauty of Keelung.
On the 24th, the Keelung Port Branch held a results presentation at the Keelung Port East Coast Passenger Service Center, sharing and presenting the experience and results of on-site route scouting with travel operators and locals. Keelung's hidden gems and cuisine as well as its most authentic cultural charm can attract more operators to invest in itinerary planning, sightseeing guides, car rentals and other businesses to meet market demand and drive local tourism output value.
The Keelung Port Branch stated that about more than half of cruise passengers have not yet purchased shore excursion packages before arriving at their destination, instead choosing independent travel or chartered car tours, and inquiries about in-depth tourism and refined tourism are also very high.
Therefore, it joined forces with local groups such as Rainy City Stroll and Yangming Ocean Culture and Art Museum, with local young people personally designing itineraries, planning promotional materials and sales, leading passengers on foot to taste temple entrance commercial district snacks such as ding bian cuo, shaved ice and pearl milk tea, experience playing traditional instruments, and climb to Zhongzheng Park to overlook the traces of time sculpting the rainy port city of Keelung, where endless stories are worth sharing and savoring.
The Keelung Port Branch is also focusing on international marketing, using business exchanges between cruise ports to lead representatives from Incheon, South Korea's largest outbound port, and Okinawa's Nakagusuku Bay Port, Asia's largest port of call, to conduct on-site inspections of attractions around Keelung in real time, hoping to connect Asian ports of call and attract cruise companies to come and establish their presence.
In addition, Keelung image cultural and creative products and photo check-in activities have been designed, allowing passengers to turn their memories of Keelung into necklaces to take home and share with family and friends. The Yangming Ocean Culture and Art Museum invited professional guides to participate in the route scouting itinerary. If the visibility of attractions can be enhanced and English signage improved, the willingness of passengers to choose to stay in Keelung for sightseeing can be greatly increased.
Local tourism is the decisive indicator for cruise tourism at ports across Asia. Although it is not the port company's core business, the long-term development of local tourism is an important indicator for the sustainable development of cruise ports. There are also expectations to join forces with the Keelung City Government and the Tourism Bureau to create channels, attract passengers to come to Taiwan, and work together to create cruise tourism output value.
