Korean oppa leads the way: Pingtung County Government invites Korean media to boost tourism

Pingtung's diverse culture and natural beauty have attracted tourism programs from around the world to come and film. Since the end of last year, a filming crew from the educational travel program "세계테마기행 (World Theme Journey)" on Korea's EBS Channel 1 came to Taiwan to begin a roughly 1-month around-Taiwan filming itinerary. The program invited the Korean Daegu tourism ambassador who has settled in Taiwan for many years, "Mr. Cheerful" Noh Gae-rang, to serve as host. After arriving in Pingtung in January this year, they traveled to places including Xiaoliuqiu, where sea turtle rehabilitation has been successful, and the Wutai indigenous tribe to conduct in-depth visits rich in ecology and culture. The Pingtung County Government also provided assistance with itinerary planning, hoping to bring the profound textures contained in Pingtung's various beautiful sights to the international stage through the lens of local television media.

The Pingtung County Government Tourism and Communication Department said that the travel program "World Theme Journey" is produced in a format closer to a travel documentary, emphasizing cultural and historical value. It is well received by local tourism operators and travel enthusiasts, while also bringing the unique cultures of various places around the world into the view of Korean audiences. This time, they invited Noh Gae-rang, who has served as a host in Taiwan for many years, to personally go up the mountains and into the sea, including swimming with sea turtles at Xiaoliuqiu and going deep into the traditional life of the Rukai indigenous people in Wutai, experiencing slate houses, hunting and food culture, fully showcasing Pingtung's enchanting diverse natural and cultural colors.

The Tourism and Communication Department pointed out that Pingtung's rich natural resources have not only created spectacular tourism scenes, but have also successively attracted film and television crews from around the world to visit. In addition to Korea's EBS this time, in recent years there have been a Czech travel program, a Singaporean travel program, a Malaysian film crew, Hong Kong, China's TVB talent show, and even a Bollywood celebrity group from India coming to film tourism specials, all of which have generated responses in various places. This shows that Pingtung tourism has already opened up its visibility in the international film and television industry.
