Recently, an orchid owner shared his results with this novice gardener. A summer Cymbidium ensifolium at his home bloomed, and it was a 'Junhe' cultivar. It bloomed quite well, but this orchid owner is rather particular. What he pursues is elegance and delicate beauty. He came to exchange care experience with this novice gardener, and I also shared a trick with him, hoping it would be useful.

1. The orchid owner's 'Junhe' orchid at home

This is the 'Junhe' orchid grown by this young orchid owner. These are the recently opened flowers. In this novice gardener's view, it has already bloomed very well; even the ones I grow myself have not bloomed this well. However, this young owner is someone who constantly strives for perfection. What he pursues is an even more delicate state. He said that this pot of 'Junhe' is a bit malnourished, that the four flower buds could not balance their nutrition, and that it did not bloom that well.

He also said that the flower stand still needs improvement. He is usually a person who is quite strict with himself, and he also has higher expectations for orchids. His orchids are grown on a balcony, where the environment is suitable. The soil used is special granular orchid soil. For watering, he insists on letting it dry out completely before watering thoroughly. In summer, he also actively mists and shades them. Wanting to take it a step further, this novice gardener thought of another orchid owner's method.

2. Cleverly using "bone" to help grow flowers

This method mainly helps orchids grow their "flowers", making the flower stand more upright, the flower color truer, and the floral fragrance richer. This method requires one thing: bone. What he uses is not the bone meal we often mention, but bone char. Bone char has a longer fertilizer effect than bone meal and is safer to use. It contains plenty of phosphorus fertilizer, which can strengthen roots and promote flowering.

What is bone char? It is the black charcoal left after bones are burned and crushed. When potting orchids, mix 5% bone char into the growing medium. This is beneficial for orchid flowering. Of course, during regular care, you still need to apply additional fertilizer periodically. Use an organic nutrient solution specially made for orchids. Used together with bone char, it can maximize the effects of strengthening roots and promoting flowering, helping you grow your orchid's "flowers" well.

Fellow flower owners, if you feel that the orchids in your home are not so delicate and beautiful, then on the basis of doing other basic care well, you might as well try this method of using bone char plus organic nutrient solution to grow flowers, making the flower posture more delicate, the flower color truer, and the floral fragrance richer.
