The 7th Nantou County Liyu Lake Guanyin Culture and Arts Festival kicks off

The 2018 Guanyin Culture and Arts Festival - Good Mountains, Good Water, Good Air Sketching Competition got off to a lively start on the morning of the 1st at the Liyu Lake Center Building in Puli Township, Nantou County. County Magistrate Lin Ming-chen, council members Lin Fang-yu, Wu Guo-chang, Liao Zhi-cheng, and Puli Township Residents' Representative Council Chairman Cai Wenzhong all attended to pay their respects and presided over a flower-offering blessing ceremony to celebrate Guanyin's birthday. A total of 400 parent-child teams signed up for the sketching competition that day, with more than a thousand parents and a steady stream of tourists making the beautiful Liyu Lake exceptionally lively.

County Magistrate Lin Ming-chen stated that Liyu Lake is an important sightseeing and recreation spot in the greater Puli area, and is the first county-level scenic area in the country approved by the Tourism Bureau. With picturesque lake and mountain scenery and excellent air quality, although the greater Puli area has suffered from PM2.5 air pollution in recent years, the scenic area has been barely affected, resembling a hidden paradise. The scenic area has also continuously held the Guanyin Culture and Arts Festival for 7 years, using the sketching competition to root the concept of environmental protection. In the future, the Nantou County Government will strengthen the connection and construction between Hutou Mountain and Liyu Lake, creating a circular sightseeing and recreation route to drive tourism development in greater Puli.

Lin Xianxiong, chairman of Tianshuilian Hotel, also stated that over the past 7 years, with the support of the Nantou County Government, local enterprises, associations and communities, the Guanyin Culture and Arts Festival has been held in a carnival style during March and April each year, combining the beauty of the lakeside with culture to build "culture, creativity, art, scenery, environmental protection" and bring the public closer to art and beautiful scenery. The scale has grown year by year, making it one of the signature cultural activities of the Liyu Lake Scenic Area. This time, together with the Shuishalian Community Medical Group and the Puli Lions Club, they jointly held the Good Mountains, Good Water, Good Air parent-child sketching competition, using children's unrestrained imagination and creativity to paint pictures of Liyu Lake with good mountains, good water and good air, conveying the idea of ecological protection, and encouraging parents to take their children outdoors during the holidays to experience art.
