A new landmark in Minxiong Township, Chiayi County: Minxiong Good Morning Park

Over the past year, the transformed Minxiong Good Morning Park has welcomed local residents with a brand-new look. Among its most eye-catching features are the "Love Cats" public art installation and the "Damao Parent-Child Plaza," located at the corner of Baosheng Street and Anhe Road, making passersby who cannot miss it want to get out of their cars to take a look and snap a photo. The series of endearing cat-shaped works echoes the old name "Damao" of Minxiong, Chiayi.

"Minxiong Urban Planning Park - Good Morning Park" had remained unchanged for decades, with messy tree branches and foliage, outdated equipment, and poor environmental layout and circulation within the park. Township Mayor He Jiaheng hoped to use creative new thinking to create an environment suitable for visiting now and even for decades to come, and specifically instructed the township office team to allocate 5 million yuan from its own financial resources in the 106th year of the Republic of China (2017) to renovate and rebuild, gradually carrying out improvement works.

In the future, Good Morning Park will also coordinate with the Forward-Looking Infrastructure Development Program's "Town Heart Project" - the Good Morning Park Landscape Regeneration Plan, with a project budget of 10 million yuan and an implementation period from the 107th to the 108th year of the Republic of China (2018 to 2019). Through reshaping the landscape with an open-air viewing terrace, grassy slope rest area, flower-and-tree corridor, and renovation of the landscape restrooms, it will become a landscape-style green environment for recreation and activities.

County Magistrate Zhang Huaguan pointed out that "parks are the lungs of a city," and Good Morning Park was conceived around Minxiong's imagery of "cats" and "pineapples." In addition to giving local adults and children a park with a cute appearance, it also catches the eye of out-of-town visitors, letting everyone know that Chiayi County is a cultural city full of infinite creativity.
