On the morning of the 15th, Taoyuan Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan went to the Matsu Story House in the agricultural expo park to attend the "2018 Taoyuan Agricultural Expo - Matsu Story House Press Conference." Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan said that understanding local life and values through agriculture is the important significance of holding the Taoyuan Agricultural Expo. The "Matsu Story House" displays Matsu's agriculture, fishing, cuisine, and culture, allowing visitors to experience a different offshore island atmosphere and letting everyone see Matsu's unique charm.
Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan pointed out that the "2018 Taoyuan Agriculture Expo" has 6 major zones, 25 exhibition pavilions, and 4 markets, with many features, including technology, culture, international exchange, and landscape art. Among them, the "Matsu Story Pavilion" is full of offshore island battlefield atmosphere, modeled after the 88 Tunnel and battlefield bunkers, and is very eye-catching. The pavilion shows the unique culture developed by Matsu's offshore island residents in an environment of relatively scarce materials and difficult living conditions. Its specialty products such as fine liquor, red yeast rice, and yellow croaker also represent the lifestyle and culture that came from agriculture and fishery.
Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan said that in the 60th year of the Republic of China, most Matsu compatriots emigrated to Taoyuan, and because of this connection, the number of Matsu compatriots currently in Taoyuan is about 50,000, and Matsu's maritime culture is part of Taoyuan culture. Lienchiang County Magistrate Liu Tseng-ying said that the "Matsu Story Pavilion" exhibited at this year's Taoyuan Agriculture Expo presents Matsu's agriculture, fishery, specialty products, distinctive culture, and battlefield atmosphere, hoping to let more people understand Matsu's moving stories. There are currently about 50,000 Matsu people in Taoyuan, and it is also hoped that through this exhibition, Matsu culture can become a feature of Taoyuan, and in the future the two sides will also engage in even closer exchange and cooperation.
