Central Taiwan Hot Spring Festival combines 6 major hot spring areas, kicks off in Guguan on the 29th

The spring weather is cool and ideal for soaking in hot springs. The Taichung City Tourism and Travel Bureau, together with the Tri-Mountain National Scenic Area Administration of the Tourism Bureau, Ministry of Transportation and Communications, is jointly organizing the "2017-18 Central Taiwan Hot Spring Festival - Happiness Jingtan Express," which will open with great fanfare on the 29th in the Guguan Hot Spring Area, combining the Tai'an, Dakeng, Guguan, Wuri, Dongpu and Beigang River hot spring areas, and inviting the public to soak in fine hot springs and eat delicious food.

On opening day, famous chefs from operators in central Taiwan's 6 major hot spring areas will jointly present a "Cool Summer Delicacies" dish presentation show, paired with an indigenous dance performance to open the proceedings; at noon, Guguan Hot Spring Park will offer free local delicacies such as red quinoa pork steamed buns, five-leaf pine dried tofu, plum-marinated soft-boiled eggs, Lishan cold-brewed tea and five-leaf pine juice.

Chen Sheng-shan, director-general of the Taichung City Tourism and Travel Bureau, pointed out that Taichung's Guguan Hot Spring and Miaoli's Tai'an Hot Spring were voted by the Tourism Bureau, Ministry of Transportation and Communications as two of Taiwan's top ten famous hot springs, the result of cooperation between the Tri-Mountain National Scenic Area Administration of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications and Taichung City. He hoped the event could continue through spring, summer, autumn and winter, especially by combining with the 2018 Flora Expo to launch package itineraries and market Taichung and central Taiwan tourism.

The Taichung City Tourism and Travel Bureau said soaking in hot springs has many benefits; besides promoting blood circulation, it can also fight cancer, and hot springs are suitable not only in winter but in all four seasons. In addition to the famous Guguan Hot Spring, Taichung City also has hot springs in Wuri and Dakeng. This year's event also combines hot spring areas such as Miaoli's Tai'an Hot Spring and Nantou's Dongpu and Beigang River hot springs for the public to choose from.

In addition, the organizers invited operators from central Taiwan's 6 major hot spring areas to promote and publicize at the hot spring market, and launched the "Central Taiwan Hot Spring Festival - Super Collect Gogoro" stamp-collection activity. Anyone who brings the event passport to the designated locations in the 6 major hot spring areas and completes the stamp-collection will have a chance to win super prizes such as a "Gogoro 2 electric scooter," "hot spring accommodation vouchers" and "hot spring soaking vouchers."
