"Happy Home" Without it, you are behind the times: a happy journey starts with automated immigration clearance

Under the government's vigorous promotion of tourism policy, the number of inbound and outbound passengers in our country has continued to grow. Last year (2017), the inbound and outbound passenger volume at Taoyuan Airport reached nearly 45 million. At present, about half of our citizens have chosen to use automated immigration clearance. It only takes 1 minute to apply for free, and afterward they can enjoy 10-second rapid clearance, which is very convenient. The high-quality clearance service even earned Taoyuan Airport recognition from the British organization Skytrax as the world's number one airport for document inspection services in 2018.

The National Immigration Agency of the Ministry of the Interior has now installed 66 automated immigration clearance gates at airports and ports across the country. As of March 2018, usage had exceeded 60 million. Over the past two years, in order to improve overall passenger inspection and clearance efficiency, the Ministry of the Interior has continued to expand automated clearance registration points, negotiate reciprocal use of automated clearance with various countries, and activate rapid exit inspection gates for foreign nationals, among many other clearance improvement measures, making inbound and outbound travel more noticeable for the public.

The Ministry of the Interior stated that in order to make it convenient for citizens to apply nearby for the automated immigration clearance system (e-Gate), and to allow them to immediately experience the convenience of e-Gate when going abroad, in addition to the existing automated clearance application locations at airports and ports including Taoyuan, Songshan, Taichung, Kaohsiung, and Kinmen, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Bureau of Consular Affairs, and 5 county and city service stations of the National Immigration Agency, 10 additional county and city service stations were added early this year to provide application services as well, making it convenient for citizens who have not yet registered to apply nearby. Registration takes only 1 minute, and clearance takes 10 seconds, so the public no longer needs to spend time queuing and waiting for clearance when entering or leaving the country.

In addition, so that foreign friends coming to Taiwan can all enjoy fast and convenient clearance services, on September 1, 2016, the National Immigration Agency of the Ministry of the Interior officially activated the "Foreign National Exit Rapid Inspection Gate (f-Gate)" at Kaohsiung Airport. Foreign travelers who are at least 14 years old and have completed fingerprint biometric capture upon entry may use f-Gate when departing without needing to apply.

When foreign travelers enter the gate, they only need to press their fingerprint, and the system will complete identity verification, allowing them to complete clearance. Clearance takes only 10 seconds, which is very convenient. f-Gate allows foreign travelers coming to Taiwan to enjoy the fast and convenient service provided by our country's advanced automated clearance equipment, enhances our country's technological image, and creates a friendly environment for foreigners coming to Taiwan.
