Little tricks for getting succulents through the summer, helping you breeze through the hot season

A few little tricks for getting your succulents through summer, one of them is bound to help you~~!
01
A wide pot opening helps with ventilation. Although tapered pots look nice, they are not suitable in the high-heat summer, and you need to pay extra attention to observing the plant's growth condition. Once you notice a bad sign, dig it out promptly; it is better to take it out of the pot for the summer.
02
Manage according to the pot material and the medium mix ratio. Terracotta pots lose moisture much faster than ceramic and plastic pots, and a medium with more gritty material also loses moisture somewhat faster, so in these two cases the watering frequency needs to be higher.
03
Choose a top dressing of non-heat-absorbing grit. This needs no further explanation: a heat-absorbing top dressing can literally cook your succulents.
04
Choose pots with drainage holes and a clean, sterile medium for planting. Drainage holes at the bottom make it less likely to cause waterlogging and can effectively prevent root rot. Generally, peat, coconut coir, kanuma soil or diatomite and other gritty materials are used as the growing medium; a clean, sterile medium can also effectively prevent black rot.
05
Spray insecticide before the start of summer. Under dry conditions, scale insects or root mealybugs are very likely to appear. Before summer begins, you can spray insecticides such as Huahuashen a few times, or add diatomite with insecticidal action to the growing medium, or bury Bayer's little green pills.
06
Succulents cannot have too much water throughout the summer, but we also worry about them lacking water, so what should we do? We can place the succulents beside a sink or a well. For friends who do not have this option, you can use a foam box filled with water and place it next to the succulents, and after a week the succulents' water-deficient state will noticeably improve.
07
In summer, succulents should stay in the coolest place indoors. If you do not have the conditions, at least provide shade, such as indoors or with a shade net. You can also DIY it yourself, for example, move two cement bricks and lay a wooden board across them, then place the succulents underneath.
08
We can choose to water on days when the temperature is relatively low, and preferably after six in the evening. Because when you water at high temperatures, the water forms steam under the soil and evaporates directly, which will literally "bake" the succulents. The usual method is to spray a little water in the evening so that the moisture can evaporate within a short time

09
Do not let your guard down in late summer and early autumn. After the weather turns cool, do not rush to water or hastily move them out to sun and rain; let the plants wake up from dormancy gradually, which is more beneficial for restoring growth.
What needs to be emphasized again is:
Birth, aging, illness and death are the laws of nature,
At 35 degrees people can still endure it,
At 40 degrees even people are dying of heat,
For plants, all you can do is "do your human best and leave the rest to fate."
Not being bound by birth, aging, illness and death,
Only then can growing plants be a joyful thing.
