Summer is here again, the season for eating tomatoes, but sometimes you buy too many and can't finish them. What to do? Huahua will teach you a trick: cut a slice, toss it in soil, and after a while you'll get a pleasant surprise! Hurry and follow along with Huahua below!

Potted Tomatoes

1. Choose a fairly large tomato; this kind of tomato is more ripe and easier to grow successfully in a pot.

2. Cut the tomato into thin slices, about 0.5 cm thick. After cutting, make sure there are white, fully formed seeds in the middle of the flesh.

3. For planting tomatoes, it's best to choose loose, breathable soil. Gardeners can use garden soil for planting. Of course, if you don't have garden soil at home, you can choose Huahua's selected nutrient soil, which is rich in humus and very suitable for growing tomatoes!

4. Lay the tomato flat on the soil, then cover it with a thin layer of soil, water thoroughly, and place it in a spot with good light for care.

5. After a few weeks, the tomatoes will sprout.

6. When the tomato seedlings grow more than five leaves, they can be repotted; just keep 1-2 seedlings per pot.

7. Tomatoes tend to fall over easily, so it's best to insert a few wooden sticks into the soil and tie the tomato plants to the sticks.

8. Put the pot on the balcony. In summer, water once every 1-2 days. You can use it together with fermented rice water to supplement nutrients for the tomatoes. Then, just sit back and wait to eat the fruit!

Potted Bitter Melon

Bitter melon clears heat and relieves summer heat, and is a representative summer vegetable. In summer, Mom would always stir-fry bitter melon every few days. Although it's bitter, after getting used to it, Huahua actually found it very refreshing!

1. Choose a bitter melon that has already turned yellow, remove the seeds, wrap them in a wet paper towel, and germinate them.

Or sow the seeds directly into nutrient soil, cover with 1-2 cm of soil, water thoroughly, and place in a ventilated spot; they will sprout in 4-5 days.

2. When the bitter melon seedlings grow 1-2 true leaves, they can be transplanted and planted in place.

3. It's best to choose a relatively deep flower pot for transplanting, planting one bitter melon per pot, which is good for the growth of the bitter melon root system.

4. First use chopsticks to poke a hole in the potting soil, place the seedling in, then gently press down the soil around the seedling and water thoroughly. Apply fermented cake fertilizer water once every 1-2 weeks.

5. When the bitter melon plant grows to about 30 cm, it needs support. You can directly insert a few taller wooden sticks into the pot, or use string to tie each vine to a high place.

6. If you want more bitter melons, you can hand-pollinate them. The pollination time is 8-10 a.m. Use a cotton swab to apply pollen from the male flowers to the female flowers. If you want to save seeds, let the bitter melon grow until it turns orange-red.

Potted Sweet Potato

Sweet potato leaves have the reputation of being the "queen of vegetables," purifying the blood, relieving constipation and detoxifying... Their benefits are far from ordinary!

1. Wash the sweet potatoes bought from the supermarket, put them in a hydroponic bottle, and change the water every 1-2 days.

2. After about 1-2 weeks, the sweet potatoes will grow long white roots and sprout small shoots.

3. If you only want to eat the leaves, you can keep the sweet potato in the hydroponic bottle the whole time. The sweet potato will grow long vines, and once the leaves are large, you can pick them and stir-fry them.

4. If gardeners want to eat both the leaves and the sweet potatoes, then you need to move the sprouted and rooted sweet potato from hydroponics to soil. Bury the rooted end in the soil and water thoroughly.

5. During the sweet potato's growth, you can pick the leaves to eat, and it will keep growing new leaves. By autumn, dump out the soil and you can harvest a pile of sweet potatoes!
