Lanjia Grand Canyon Awarded the Title of National Forest Wellness Base Pilot Unit
At the recently held First China Forest Wellness and Medical Tourism Forum and the 2016 Annual Meeting of the Forest Medicine and Health Promotion Association of the China Forestry Industry Federation, Jilin Lanjia Grand Canyon National Forest Park was awarded the title of "National Forest Wellness Base Pilot Unit," becoming the only forestry unit in Yanbian Prefecture to receive this honor, adding another "ecological calling card" to its reputation as a "forest oxygen bar."
It is understood that after the complete halt of commercial timber harvesting in 2015, Wangqing Forestry Branch recognized the green value contained in the forest region, seized upon the "primitive, rustic, natural and mysterious" characteristics of Jilin Lanjia Grand Canyon National Forest Park, accelerated the pace of tourism industry development, and vigorously promoted the great and rapid development of the forest tourism industry, truly turning lucid waters and lush mountains into mountains of gold and silver. In 2016, taking the construction of the forest wellness base as a breakthrough point, 1.15 million yuan was invested to upgrade and renovate the "Forest Family" inn at the Dashi River Scenic Area of the forest park, renovating 11 guest rooms, 2 dining rooms and 5 restrooms, while simultaneously improving indoor infrastructure such as televisions, showers and sanitary fixtures, building and maintaining over 30 km of scenic area roads and 110 m of boardwalks, installing 23 scenic area guide signs, and constructing a new parking lot of over 6,000 sq m. A viewing platform was also built at the Millennium Yew King protected area in the Jinling Songtao Scenic Area. Free wifi coverage was achieved throughout the scenic area. According to statistics, in 2016 "Lanjia" received over 20,000 tourist visits, an increase of 60% compared with 2015.
In 2017, Jilin Lanjia Grand Canyon National Forest Park will take the pilot construction of the national forest wellness base as an opportunity to accelerate the construction of tourism facilities at the forest wellness base, encourage the development of distinctive farmhouse inns and resort economy, actively develop experience-based and pick-your-own forest wellness tourism products relying on under-forest economy, and make every effort to create an engaging and immersive forest wellness environment, preparing for the arrival of the era of forest tourism and vacationing.
