Provincial Tree and Provincial Flower Poll Results Announced: Top Ten Lists Unveiled
Camphor tree, red cyclobalanopsis, nanmu... which one best represents Hunan? Azalea, camellia, hibiscus mutabilis - which one is Hunan's "provincial flower"? The Hunan Provincial "Provincial Tree and Provincial Flower" selection event, organized by the Hunan Provincial Greening Committee and the Hunan Provincial Forestry Department, officially launched on June 1. Ten candidates each were listed for the provincial tree and provincial flower. Citizens can vote online for the candidate "provincial tree" and "provincial flower" through the selection columns opened on the Hunan Provincial Government Portal, Rednet, and the "Hunan Forestry" WeChat public account. The voting period runs from now until July 31.
The selection criteria for both the "provincial tree" and the "provincial flower" require ornamental value and symbolic significance. The "provincial tree" must be tall and upright, with a handsome form, a well-developed trunk, and luxuriant branches and leaves; the "provincial flower" must be an elegant plant, primarily grown for its flowers, with bright colors, beautiful flower form, elegant fragrance, and a long flowering period, and must be deeply loved by the public. The "provincial tree" must embody profound Huxiang cultural connotations, reflect the Hunan spirit of "loyalty, responsibility, truth-seeking, and striving for strength," showcase the spiritual outlook of the people of the whole province, carry symbolic significance of the times, and convey a good meaning.
