Leveraging multiple flower festivals to improve the flower economy

In recent years, Meishan City has successfully held two Meishan Cherry Blossom Festivals. Flower-viewing bases and flower planting bases have begun to take shape, and the flower economy has become an important industry in the city's urban modern agriculture, with the comprehensive benefits of the flower economy reaching 700 million yuan.

The Meishan City Forestry Bureau, in accordance with the functional duties of the forestry department and the "Meishan City Fresh Flower Economy Development Implementation Plan," and centering on the "one city, three zones, six bases" development plan, built 2 fresh flower planting bases, 3 flower-viewing bases, and 1 deep-processing base to high standards. This lays a good foundation for multiple flower festivals each year.

The city's forestry system, adapting to local conditions, is accelerating the formation of characteristic planting areas for three major categories of fresh flower resources: fruit-type flowers, horticultural flowers, and crop flowers, creating multi-color flower belts and large-scale fresh flower bases. In conjunction with the greening and beautification of roads, urban green spaces, and wetland water systems, it vigorously plants flower-type plants, continuously optimizing the ecological environment and enhancing Meishan's urban quality.

Relying on the city's existing suburban parks, agricultural parks, ecological scenic areas, ecological farmhouses, and rural flower and fruit planting areas, and in accordance with the construction standards for facility agriculture and scenic-area development, it is creating a new batch of flower planting bases and flower-viewing bases.

Through holding flower and fruit festivals such as the Meishan Cherry Blossom Festival, the Meishan Late-maturing Mandarin Orange Festival, the Danleng Peach Blossom Festival, the Renshou Wengong Peach Blossom Festival, and the Caojia Pear Blossom Festival, Meishan City and its districts and counties have formed a number of distinctive flower and fruit festival brands. At present, the city is accelerating the technological research, development, and introduction of fresh flower products, cultivating a group of leading processing enterprises, advancing the deep processing of fresh flower products, vigorously developing the bee industry, continuously extending the industrial chain, and improving the flower economy.
