Jasmine is a flower loved by many gardening enthusiasts. Its flowering period is especially long, and its fragrance is rich. It has long been said of it, "Flowers bloom all over the garden, yet none is as fragrant as it."

Some gardening enthusiasts complain that the jasmine they grow blooms once and then never blooms again, or else it blooms very little and is not very fragrant either. What is going on?

For jasmine, management during the flowering period is very important. Today Hua'er will introduce to everyone some care knowledge for when jasmine is in bloom. By handling it this way, you can keep it blooming continuously for 100 days, surrounded by floral fragrance every day.

In jasmine care, the most important things are the three key elements of pruning, light, and fertilizer and water. They are very crucial and directly determine the number of flowers and how long they bloom.

1. Pruning

For jasmine blooming for the first time, first prune off the first-flower fertilizer, cutting off both the flowers and the tender leaves together, to encourage new branches to grow again, with lush foliage, and to differentiate more flower buds.

For flowers that have faded, they should also be pruned promptly. Generally, cut off the flower together with the following 2-3 leaves, which allows it to quickly sprout new shoots and grow, preparing to continue forming buds and blooming.

For the whole plant, when leggy, overly dense, diseased, or damaged branches and leaves are found, they should also be pruned promptly to facilitate ventilation, increase growing space, and benefit the next bloom.

2. Light

Jasmine likes a semi-shaded environment. During the flowering period it needs sufficient light, but summer temperatures are high and sunlight is strong, which can easily inhibit its growth and scorch its leaves. So move it to a cool place with plenty of scattered light, or build it a shade shed with a light transmittance of 50%, letting it receive more scattered light, promote photosynthesis, speed up metabolism, and benefit bud formation and blooming.

3. Fertilizer and water

Jasmine likes fertilizer, so apply light fertilizer frequently. You can apply diluted fertilizer once every two days, mainly phosphorus and potassium fertilizer. You can apply rotted organic fertilizer liquid. Water should also be sufficient. In summer's high temperatures, water evaporates quickly, so watering must be sufficient. Generally, water once a day. Generally speaking, watering in the morning and fertilizing in the evening is more conducive to absorption. During the day, you can spray some water around it more often to increase humidity, promote flower bud differentiation, and promote flower bud growth.

Two points to note:

1. Jasmine likes acidity, so every 7-10 days water it with diluted alum fertilizer water to increase soil acidity and promote root absorption and growth.

2. During the bud stage, spray some Huaduo Zhuangdiling, which can promote flower bud growth, make the flowers large and plump with a rich fragrance, and extend the flowering period.

That is all for the care of jasmine when it is in bloom. If gardening enthusiasts have other additions, you can share them with everyone in the comments section below. If you want to learn more about flower care, you can follow Huajianke.
