When summer gets hot, lots of things can't keep and need to be eaten quickly, but if you have a lot of flowers and plants at home, you'll find that with just a little processing, the food scraps you leave behind make plants "eat" them and grow beautifully!

Watermelon

The fruit people eat the most in summer is this one, tasty and affordable. After eating a watermelon, scrape the remaining red flesh clean with a spoon, leaving only the white rind. Then chop it into small pieces with a knife and put them into a prepared plastic bottle or another sealable container. Add clean water or rice-washing water and put it straight in the sun to bake, letting the watermelon rind fully ferment and rot. It will be ready in about a month or so; when using it, dilute it about 10 times, and then you can water the flowers with it directly.

This nutrient solution suits most acid-loving flowers, such as milan and gardenia, etc. During fermentation some rather smelly gas is produced, which is unpleasant, so we can add a few pieces of orange peel to the bottle. Orange peel can effectively remove the odor produced during the decomposing process, and after the orange peel fully decomposes it can also be applied as flower fertilizer.

Fruit peels, eggshells

Eggshells contain a fair amount of phosphorus fertilizer and calcium fertilizer. After processing, put them into the potting soil; they can not only improve soil structure, but also provide phosphorus fertilizer and calcium fertilizer, help plants improve cold resistance, and also promote plant flowering and raise the fruit-setting rate.

Soybeans

Take out an appropriate amount of soybeans, then put them into a glass cup. Add water, an appropriate amount, not too full; you need to leave some space. Then, place the cup under the sun to bake. After two to three days, we can observe a lot of gas bubbling out of the soybeans. After about twenty days, the water will become very cloudy. At this point it is about ready. This water can be used to replace nutrient solution; the effect is very good, and it is natural and pollution-free.

Note: This water cannot be poured directly on the plants, as it may burn them. It needs to be diluted, with a large amount of water added, before use.

Tea dregs

Leftover tea water, rice-washing water, and plant-ash water, after fermentation, are very good potassium fertilizer liquids. Used to water flowers, they can make the root system well developed, the branches and leaves bright green, and reduce the occurrence of pests and diseases. They can be fermented or used directly to water flowers.

Animal bones

Put the bones left after eating pork ribs, lamb ribs, beef ribs, etc. into a pressure cooker, steam over heat for 30 minutes, then pound them into powder. Mix evenly at a ratio of 1 part bone scraps to 3 parts river sand, use as a base fertilizer for flowers, spread it 3 cm at the bottom of the flower pot, cover with a layer of soil, then plant the flowers; it is beneficial for flower growth and blooming.
