What are the care tips for keeping spider plants evergreen all year round?

In the vast world, there are many beloved flowers and plants. The spider plant (Chlorophytum comosum) is one of the foliage potted flowers commonly cultivated across the north and south and widely loved by people. Its leaves are shaped like those of an orchid, its stems are slender, and its evergreen green leaves have a plain beauty, a beauty that gives people hope and upward spirit.
So, if you want your spider plant to stay evergreen all year round, you need to learn the following "tips" well.
1. It cannot be exposed to the scorching sun
The spider plant has strong adaptability; it can thrive even in factory and mining areas with air pollution. The spider plant likes a warm and humid environment and is best grown in semi-shade. In summer, do not expose it to strong light during high temperatures, otherwise the leaf tips will scorch and turn white, reducing its ornamental value.
2. It is not cold-tolerant
The spider plant is not very cold-tolerant. Around the time of Frost's Descent it needs to be moved indoors for cultivation. If the room temperature can be kept above 8°C, it can overwinter safely. Once the leaves are frozen, they immediately wilt and are not easy to revive, leading to death.
3. Repot in time
The spider plant grows robustly and is easy to manage, with no special requirements for water or fertilizer. Every 2-3 years, in spring during April to May, repot and change the soil once. When repotting, knock the plant out of the pot, remove part of the old soil, cut off the withered and moldy roots, and tidy up the fibrous roots and the upper stems and leaves. Place broken tile pieces at the bottom of the pot to make a drainage layer, spread a layer of soil on top, then apply crushed bone, cake fertilizer or sesame paste residue as a base fertilizer, spread another layer of soil, plant the plant in the pot, firm it down and fill the pot with soil, then water thoroughly.
4. Fertilize in time
During the peak growing season of the spider plant, flower lovers should apply a general-purpose dilute liquid plant fertilizer once every half month, diluted 500 times for watering the roots and 1000 times for spraying the leaves. No fertilization is needed during the high temperatures of summer or in winter. From autumn to before the onset of winter, apply 1-2 more rounds of dilute liquid fertilizer, which benefits the plant's growth.
5. Spray water regularly
When caring for a spider plant, it is best to choose a tall cylindrical pot, so that the proportions are harmonious and the plant's growth is benefited. After planting, place the potted plant in a shaded spot to recover; once the leaves stand up, hang it in a place with light but no direct strong sunlight. The potting soil should be kept moist at all times. To keep the leaf surface clean and beautiful, you can regularly use a small spray bottle to mist the leaf surface, washing away the dust on the leaves.
