How to deal with root rot in azaleas
1. Take out the plant
Regardless of whether the azalea's root rot is severe or not, first take it out of the potting soil, then rinse its roots clean with clean water so you can more quickly inspect the rotted parts and then handle them accordingly. Be careful when rinsing so that no new wounds appear.
2. Prune the rotted roots
After washing the azalea's roots with water, use sterilized scissors to cut off the rotted root system. After pruning, soak it in potassium permanganate for a while, about 30 minutes is enough.
3. Replace the potting soil
While the azalea's roots are soaking, clean the old soil out of the flowerpot, disinfect the flowerpot, and let it dry in a ventilated place, then fill the pot with suitable soil.
4. Replant
The soaked azalea should be replanted into new potting soil. Handle it carefully. After planting it well, water it appropriately and keep it in a ventilated, shaded place for care. Do not fertilize it for one month after planting; after about half a month it can be cared for normally, and before long it will grow new roots.
When watering normally, control the amount well and do not let water accumulate in the potting soil. Fertilize in appropriate amounts as well, and do not apply highly concentrated fertilizer, so as to avoid burning the roots. In addition, pay attention to preventing and controlling root rot disease.
