The blooming period of bougainvillea: generally in the north, if grown indoors in a greenhouse, it blooms from March to July; ordinarily, the blooming period is generally from October to December, but with good care it can bloom all year round. If planted bougainvillea doesn't bloom, one little method will have it blooming and bursting out of the pot four months later:

Bougainvillea seedlings, even those propagated by cuttings in spring of the same year, can bloom in autumn with proper care. You can simply pinch and top them to encourage the whole plant's branches and leaves to grow more branches and side shoots, so the plant shape is more balanced; with more branches and more side shoots, it will also bloom more. The longest branch in the picture needs its tip pinched off in time.

Bougainvillea planted in summer can also bloom the same year. The secret is to pinch it once or twice. For bougainvillea seedlings that have rooted from autumn cuttings, each time they grow 12 cm long, pinch off the tip, that is, pinch the growing tip, and after three months flower buds appear.

For bougainvillea seedlings, aside from slight shading in summer, give them plenty of sun the rest of the time. Do not water too frequently or too much; water thoroughly only when you see the potting soil is dry. Watering appropriately with a little organic fertilizer water will make them grow faster and bloom earlier. After planting, seedlings generally need three to four months or so before they can bloom.

When growing bougainvillea normally, maintain sufficient light, and still water only when the soil has dried out, then water thoroughly. It is a plant that loves sunlight, so it cannot be placed in a dark corner, and after blooming it is even more important not to put it somewhere with insufficient light, otherwise it easily drops leaves and buds.

Too much watering and too much fertilizing will cause lots of branches and leaves to grow. With appropriate water control and moderate fertilizing, it blooms profusely.
