Since growing my first aeonium, I have been unable to pull myself away. That is exactly us, right! The key is that as you grow them, they make a comeback, and that is truly so satisfying~
I estimate that succulent lovers more or less all have aeoniums. The beauty of aeoniums is truly hard to resist, and of course I am no exception.
I had always longed for an aeonium. After finally making it through summer, in the autumn of 2017 I bought a Black Copper Kettle.
I do not remember the exact time, roughly August or September of 2017. This is how it looked when it first arrived. It was ugly enough, and one head had even broken off.
2017-10-6 It successfully established in the pot. There was a lot of rain in autumn, so its condition was not good.
In February 2018, it was placed indoors. At first I gave it a little water, and it woke up from that lifeless winter state.
Returned to outdoor growing, and its condition began to show.
It may have gotten too much sun. This color is dark enough too.
Being able to grow step by step into its current state, who can say it did not successfully make a comeback?
This is my favorite photo. Beautiful without restraint.
This is a Shaoxiu. How it looked last year, with only a ring of small heads.
You are not seeing it wrong, it is still the same one. In the spring of this year I repotted it, and it began to grow like crazy. I am very satisfied with this shape! The lighting is not good, so everyone please make do with this!
Green Cashmere, bought in the summer of 2017. At that time there were still many small black spots on the leaves.
In the spring of 2018, a ring of small heads could not grow out, so I also repotted it.
How it looks now, a green rose bouquet.
This is the Yanyuehui I bought in the winter of 2017. Do not ask me why I planted it in a pot like this. I will tell you, because at that time I also did not have enough confidence that it could survive.
It is still that same pot, but Yanyuehui's appearance is no longer what it used to be.
This is another one bought at the same time. Not bad either, right?
This is also a Ouzi bought in the winter of 2017. It was only around April that it finally showed signs of establishing in the pot. So I really do not recommend buying succulents in winter.
How it looks now. Not the most beautiful, but I am also very comforted.
Halloween. The unboxing photo from when it was bought last autumn.
How it looked in spring. It felt like it could not spread out, so I repotted it.
It is also my favorite bouquet shape. I believe it will become even more beautiful.
Aeoniums, from a plain cabbage, transform into different forms and distinct colors, like a butterfly breaking out of its cocoon, like a phoenix bathing in fire. They have also witnessed my journey of progress, so every succulent that looks ugly right now is worth being treated kindly, because it is still a caterpillar.
Hui Zhang's chatter:
The enthusiasm of succulent lovers for aeoniums really moves Hui Zhang, and summer is also the most beautiful season for aeoniums, so it is truly hard to resist.
As usual, Hui Zhang still reminds everyone in proper form that the most beautiful time for aeoniums is actually also the most dangerous time, and summer care issues still need attention.
For most regions, after entering summer, UV intensity increases, so appropriate shading is needed. Sunburn generally only shows after about a week and will not be reflected at the time, so do not be careless at all.
If conditions allow, aeoniums should be placed outdoors for growing as much as possible, but be careful to shield them from heavy rain. Especially sun exposure after rain, or immediately moving aeoniums back indoors, are both main causes of black rot.
After being rained on, the water accumulated in the center of the leaves should be blown dry, and then it should be placed in a ventilated spot.
Of course, in the blessed Yunnan it is very wonderful. In summer it only goes semi-dormant, and the best ornamental state can last from March to September, because in most areas of Yunnan the summer temperature does not exceed 30.
Alright, that is all for today's aeoniums. If you like it, remember to forward and like~
