1. Growing summer orchids on the balcony, cooling comes first
This orchid owner grows orchids on the balcony. Summer is very hot, so he thought about how to cool things down. The shade net was already prepared, and "high-altitude cooling" was already taken care of, but the ground also needed cooling. So he figured out a good "ground cooling" method himself. It is very practical, and the material needed is just a bit of waterproof cloth. Let's take a look.
2. Water trough cooling method, replenish water in time
On the balcony, he used waterproof cloth to make a water trough of about two square meters. After tying and fixing the four corners, he began to fill the trough with water, about 3cm deep, with the water 1cm high. Usually, when the water is about to dry up, just add more. According to his care environment, adding water once every 4 days is basically enough to ensure the humidity on the balcony, and it is especially cool.
On usual stuffy and hot days, he would move a small stool to the balcony to escape the heat, and often check the orchid pots. As soon as the potting soil dried, he would water. Summer temperatures are high, but after using this "ground cooling" and "high-altitude cooling" method, the balcony was instead very cool. The balcony wind was not small, and the moisture in the pots also dried quickly, so he basically had to water thoroughly once a week.
At present, he says he has used this method to grow orchids for two months. The orchids have grown vigorous roots, and the new shoots have already grown to 15cm, with new shoots emerging again below the new shoots. The veins of the orchid's new seedlings are clear and very glossy. He is very happy. The orchids are growing well, and he uses a 1000-fold diluted Huadongde orchid organic nutrient solution every week to supplement fertilizer and strengthen the seedlings.
Orchid owners, everyone can learn this method. Combining "high-altitude cooling" with "ground cooling" basically drives the high temperature out of the balcony. In this way, orchids can grow in a cool and humid environment, sprout white roots, and send out new shoots. By autumn, the flowering will surely be great, and the flowers will also be very fragrant.
